Fashion Icons: Lacoste Watches

A fashion brand today is easily recognized by an emblem or logo appearing on a piece of apparel, a handbag clasp, the stems on a pair of sunglasses or a watch dial. From Tory Burch’s four-sided letter T-crest and Ralph Lauren’s polo pony to Gucci’s double G logo and Louis Vuitton LV emblem, it’s very easy to identify the designer by its iconic emblem.
Lacoste is easily one of the most recognizable designer brands in the world today. The brand’s iconic green crocodile logo is not only readily identified throughout the globe, it is perhaps one of the oldest designer emblems as well. The brand founded in 1933 by tennis player Rene Lacoste and French knitwear manufacturer Andre  Gillier,  introduced a revolutionary tennis shirt in France that Lacoste designed and wore on tennis courts, featuring an embroidered crocodile logo on the chest.
The brand soon expanded their assortment and introduced  golf and sailing shirts. In 1952, Lacoste shirts debuted in the United States and soon became the status symbol of sportsman.
